Helena River Waldorf School

Nestled In Perth’s North East, A Nurturing Waldorf Education Awaits

Nestled in the peaceful bushland of Hazelmere, Helena River Waldorf School offers a holistic approach to education. Inspired by the principles of Rudolf Steiner, our curriculum engages head, heart and hands. Children have the space to develop academically while nurturing their creative and emotional capacities.

For families seeking a more intentional approach to education, our school offers a warm and supportive journey. With a strong sense of community and screen-free learning, we’re committed to honouring the essence of childhood.

“If a child has been able in his play to give up his whole loving being to the world around him, he will be able, in the serious tasks of later life, to devote himself with confidence and power to the service of the world.”

– Rudolf Steiner

Heartfelt Education To Nurture The Whole Child

Waldorf education nurtures the whole child, supporting intellectual, emotional and practical development.

At Helena River Waldorf School, children learn through a rich and broad curriculum. Academic work is interwoven with the arts for a meaningful, timeless, and impactful education. This holistic approach cultivates curiosity, compassion and courage, empowering young people to meet life’s complexities and carry a lifelong love of learning.

Playgroup

Our playgroup welcomes children aged 1–4. The Playgroup room offers warmth, simplicity, and beauty. The child’s kinship with nature is honoured through story, song, verse and the celebration of the seasons, with a regular and predictable rhythm flowing through the morning.

Kindergarten

Our kindergarten places great importance on play, rhythm, nature, and imagination. This helps to build the foundation for later formalised learning. Kindergarten rooms are warm and inviting. With beautiful colours, natural fabrics and hand-crafted toys, we replicate a ‘home’ environment to help young children feel settled.

Primary School
(Class 1 – 7)

The Primary and Middle years in a Waldorf school are a shared journey. Learning is enriched through storytelling, art, music, nature studies and practical activities. While building strong academic foundations, we nurture curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Hybrid Stream

At Helena River Waldorf School, we recognise that every child’s learning journey is unique. Some children experience challenges that make attending school five days a week difficult, yet still wish to remain connected to our school community and the rich curriculum we offer.
